The details
Short answer: both certify copper to 1 GHz, Cat 6A / Class FA with better-than-Level V accuracy. The difference is the platform. The DSX2-5000 runs on the Versiv 2 mainframe with integrated Wi‑Fi for uploading results to LinkWare Live. The DSX-5000 is the original Versiv. Telecom Rentals describes the difference as wireless being enabled on the DSX2-5000 for file transfer and LinkWare Live. The test results and standards are the same.
Compatibility matters: per CableTestShop, the generations are not cross-compatible. A DSX-5000 module needs an original Versiv mainframe and a DSX2-5000 module needs a Versiv 2 mainframe, so check both halves of a used kit match.
Price gap: the DSX2-5000 lists new at $13,442.94–$14,651.87, and used or refurbished at $7,900–$10,495. Used original DSX-5000s listed at $3,000–$8,497 (plus €7,950 refurbished at Leasametric).
